Through antiquity song has been used to preserve and share our cultural, spiritual and folk heritage, to celebrate the reasons behind festive occasions and express our pain in times of sorrow. Folk songs have long commemorated heroic adventures and regaled us with tales of villains and adventurers, rogues and rakes, ghosts and fairies.

The folk songs that we have loved throughout the 150 years since the Fathers of Confederation met to knit disparate territories into a strong and vibrant nation will be preserved on our website. Or, if you should wish to order one,  through our downloadable e-book. peifolksongbook.com contains songs inspired by passion, pain, joy and a time-honoured need to preserve and share our stories. Read the lyrics that we have danced, romanced or cried to since the 1864 Charlottetown Conference or link to performances. Where possible chords or sheet music  will be available for musicians. We hope the Prince Edward Island Song Book will preserve these songs long past the tricentennary 150 years from now.
