Island Working Man

Written by Barry O'Brien

Through my bedroom window I can hear the working sounds of the torches burning metal and the beams that hit the ground
The pays alright and the job is good at least it keeps you honest
It's just one small step to help put your kids through college

Chorus

You work all week for money you hardly see, they never sleep and they are away from their families
They may not like it but they do the best they can , it's a song of an island working man

Through my bedroom window I can hear the engines roar of the boats that leave the harbour you know fishing starts at four
It's hard to make a living in an industry gone rotten, they still lay their traps off the isle of boughten

Chorus

Through my bedroom window I can see their lives unfold, suddenly I realize their stories must be told
From labour strikes and lost lives forgotten in the fold , seasons change , they still remain, they are this islands soul

Chorus x 2
